President Buhari leaves for Daura

The President, Muhammadu Buhari has travelled to his hometown Daura, Katsina State, ahead of the Sallah celebrations. He left today after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was held at the council chamber in Abuja. The President received a standing ovation from members of the FEC when he arrived at the venue of the meeting. This is the first FEC meeting the president will be attending since his return from his medical vacation in London.

ROTIMI AMAECHI'S COUP D'ETAT

It's a no brainer  that ex governor and minister of transport Rotimi Amaechi is no friend of the former president Goodluck Jonathan,  at least politically.

Speaking at the 15th national council on transportation Amaechi had this to say:

"I have been to Sokoto severally, especially in 2015 during our struggle to change Nigeria. Sokoto played a very critical role in that struggle. The then governor, Aliyu Wamakko and then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, worked together and closely with us to ensure we achieved our objective. “The two of them moved with us to the APC; they were equally part of the new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I recall my conversations with Tambuwal when we moved to APC. I had told him that we had moved and he asked whether I was the only one. I told him that I moved with the governors, but he inquired if his governor, Wamakko, equally moved with us. I told him we will issue a statement concerning his governor. As God will have it, the governor himself issued a statement declaring that he was solidly in support of the movement to the APC. “This meeting today reminds me of all that struggle and our meetings in Sokoto, especially with Wamakko and Tambuwal to strategise for the 2015 presidential election. I must thank him and other Nigerians for that support because the desired change would not have come if they did not come together to support and work for the APC to ensure the emergence of President Buhari.

S'EAST GOVERNORS MEET WITH NNAMDI KANU

The South-east governors are currently in a closed door meeting with the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The meeting which is held behind closed in doors is holding in Enugu State. Present at the meeting are the governors of Enugu Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi, Anambra Deputy Governor Nkem . The governors of Imo and Abia State are yet to join in the meeting. This would be the second time the governors are meeting in one month to discuss issues of common interest. Details later…

The office of the Attorney-General had earlier revealed that the criminal mastermind will be charged to court on offences bordering kidnapping, extortion and others before Justice Oshodi at 10:00 a.m. The prosecution counsel was led by the state Attorney-General, Mr. Adeniji Kassim.

BODY OF NIGERIAN BRIDE-TO-BE FOUND

Body of Nigerian bride-to-be, 31-year-old Miss Olivia Uchechi, who drowned and was carried away by flood at Adoration Ministry in Uke, Idemili North Local Governement Area of Anambra on August 15th, has been found. The Federal Government has declared Friday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 4 as Public Holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. ‎ The Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau‎, made the statement on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday in Abuja. Dr Rufai Attahiru, overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary in the ministry signed the statement in Abuja on Monday. VETERAN ACTOR OBI MADUBUOGWU IS DEAD

Veteran Nollywood actor, Obi Madubogwo, has been reported dead. The Nollywood actor lost his life after a prolonged battle with diabetes.

 A popular Nigerian On-Air Personality, Enoh Ogbevire, took to his social media page on Twitter to announce the demise of the Nollywood actor. The OAP wrote: Nollywood loses another actor Obi madubuogu (battle of musanga). May his soul rest in perfect peace Amen”

 Another report which surfaced online disclosed that the actor developed fever yesterday and was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention this morning. He was reported to have died at the health facility due to complications. The family of the deceased will be taking his remains to his home state tomorrow.

HOUSING FOR ALL

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is spearheading a new scheme targeted at providing improved access to housing finance to aspiring homeowners. The initiative would have a tenor of 15 years to 25 years, depending on the age of the borrower, their income and desired tenor and would be available to eligible applicants with insufficient or no equity contribution.

 The scheme, known as My Own Home, is also expected to provide awareness, education and practical tips to assist prospective homeowners in need of long-term housing finance. The public-private partnership project is backed by the World Bank, Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria, as well as primary mortgage banks through equity in the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company

400 JEHOVAH WITNESS CHURCH MEMBERS SLUMP IN A STAMPEDE
