The result of the poll indicated that Nigerians prefer another man/woman for the country's top job. Respondents wondered if we must always have the same set of people, who failed the country, running the government every time.

Of the 20,253 participants in the poll, 45 per cent rejected the President and the former Vice President, ticking "none of the above". 43% percent of the votes, however, went to President Buhari, while Atiku gathered 12 per cent, reducing the former Vice President to something of a distant third in a two-horse race.

Respondents weighed in with diverse views on their preferences. Some were acerbic, others funny and some dragging in the names of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)and Mr. Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti State. A respondent, Chuma Akuntasi, tweeted: "Anyone that votes for Buhari is a cow and bastard." Another, tweeting as @obatofera, responded with "No more aboki (Northern) president.

Abubakar Atiku and Muhammadu Buhari The man, who introduced the IPOB leader to the poll was @Akinomotolafemi, who asked "Nnamdi Kanu nko?" and attracted from @nassabuwa22 a dismissive "he won't win President of Biafra". To that, he got "Amen" from another participant. Mr. Kanu's fans indicated that he cannot contest an election in a "zoo", the IPOB leader's default description of the country.

A respondent, @JOSHWAEVIANO, asked that former President Jonathan be added to the poll, so reactions could be obtained. Those opposed to President Buhari are trenchant in their view that his performance has been lusterless and believe that those who expressed a desire to vote for him are dumb."Some mumu (idiots) will still vote for this clueless man. Issokay. Maybe till he puts a gun to their mumu heads", wrote @herculean_me. It is a sentiment shared by @DebonairDoctor, who responded with disbelief: "People would actually vote Buhari again? OMG!" One Temitayo Chinonso, tweeting from @EmiNiTyBaba, said he is shocked that the anyone could consider voting Buhari. "As in e dey fear me," he wrote in pidgin. Fans of Atiku think that he is better than Buhari because he has been successful in business and will carry the acumen into governance. "Me I will vote for Atiku because he has a business pedigree and can do better than Buhari that has never created wealth," argued @Olumikemfr.

He was supported by @ Gideondecster, who said: “Buhari can't go beyond 2019. He's too old, weak and tired. Forget sentiments and let Turaki (Atiku) rule." Another rejection of Buhari was expressed a voting for him means "suffering and smiling". But the President despite his brittle health and sub-performance so far has his fanatical crowd of supporters. One tweeted that the former President carries a credibility baggage, insisting the President Buhari, weak or strong, remains a better fit for the office than Atiku.

Atiku, he argued, may be strong, but blighted by a perceived inclination to corruption. Many of those opposed to President Buhari and Atiku, however, demanded a list of possible candidates to enable them make choices different from the recycled duo.
